Our biggest river. The largest home of the Slovenian king of rivers - the Danube salmon. The Sava River is one of the most visited rivers in Europe for fishing. In the summer months, it is very popular among fishermen who like to catch trout and grayling. However, in recent years it has been overshadowed by hucho fishing. When the first of October arrives, or in some parts of the Sava a little later, fishermen descend on it for hucho hucho. We can safely say that the Sava river is in the first place in Slovenia as far as the population of hucho is concerned. If not even in Europe. Thus, many fishermen come from abroad and not only from Slovenia. Fishing requires two anglers fishing in pairs, except in rare cases. Usually, one of them must be a member of the fishing family under which they are fishing. Thus, the rush to this fish is reduced at least a little. Foreigners often hire a guide to take them to the best locations. Most fishermen catch it by spinning, but I prefer fly fishing. So I got my beautiful hucho at the beginning of November. It was a perfect day for fishing - just the right high water and weather. After a few throws, a friend lost a large specimen. Around 10 in the morning, luck struck me. Behind a rock in calm water, he grabbed my gray streamer from the depths. The moment I hooked, he took off running dovn stream. I already thought he was lost, thank God he stopped after about 30 meters. This was followed by a small fight and the hucho was in the net.
What a day!!! If you want a similar experience, I am at your disposal.
