IS THIS ONE OF THE BEST FLY FISHING RIVERS IN SLOVENIJA?
The Unica River definitely can't disappoint you. It is a river that is definitely the best inhabited by grayling in Slovenia. In addition, they are joined by a large amount of brown trout, and here and there some chub and pike. He travels in the middle of nature and without settlements in the surrounding area. The banks are green, only a few sections are not overgrown and despite the overgrowth, it will not disturb you when fly fishing. You will also be surprised by the rest of nature. Many kingfishers, herons, and other unknown birds are present along the water. But it's a river that's anything but easy to catch a nice fish. At least for me, it happened with both large trout (50+) that they got entangled in the water grass, which it has quite a lot. I managed to get a smaller trout into the net after a long fight with the grass. The bigger one was taken off because of the grass.
I would be happy to return to the river, maybe the only thing that hinders me is the price of the permit, which is quite a dizzying 100 euros and considering its length maybe a little too much.
Maybe it's worth that much because it's a really healthy river with a lot of fish, maybe not because the district isn't that long, but let everyone judge it for themselves
