Amanda and Daniel are from Puerto Rico and regularly flyfish for saltwater fish. They return to the states twice a year to flyfish for trout. This time they came to Slovenia to try flyfishing here too. I was delighted to welcome them and guide them on two Slovenian rivers. The first day we were on the Sava Bohinjka River. It wasn’t exactly perfect and according to my expectations because we started in the afternoon and the fish weren’t as active and had already seen a lot of flies. However, they both caught a couple of nice rainbow trout.
The next day we went to the Tržiška Bistrica River and did about a kilometer on a nice part of the river. The conditions were just right for good fishing. The water was just right, the air temperature wasn’t too hot and the weather kept showing signs of rain so we avoided any swimmers. After we finished fishing, they were both happy because they caught at least 40 beautiful trout in total. They weren’t really big, but they were definitely beautiful, and with such views of the surroundings, maybe the size of the fish doesn’t matter.
