Fishing in remote place in Italy

I have a wish to fish on Lake Neves for a few years now but somehow I haven’t found the time. This April I just went to the northern part of Italy to the Bolzano region. All I will say is that I was not disappointed. Quite the opposite. This was one of the better, if not the best fishing trip so far. Of course I wasn’t alone, so it wasn’t just a fishing trip. My wife and son were with me and of course both dogs. Despite the fact that we spent a lot of time together, I managed to fish in three districts. First of all, I have to say that it is not the easiest to get a ticket. You can’t to buy it online. But to buy a permit through an authorized person, we contacted quite a few locals. The first day I went to a stream that is not even on Google Maps. Seriously, if you don’t tune in to the satellite, you can’t find it at all. And this stream was incredible. It was populated with brown trout and rainbow trout. Their district was about 4 km long. And the most interesting thing was that only native trout lived in it. The nice gentleman who sold me the permit said he don’t know where the rainbow trout came from and they are all native. That day I caught about 25 beautiful trout. And each one was more beautiful than the last. The one in the picture stood out. The next area I fish was still 80 percent frozen lake. Literally ice cubes were floating around me. I only fished there for about two hours. But I will remember those two hours for a long time. Every cast was a fish, or if not a fish, at least a strike. It was a evening of long casts. That evening I caught a couple of nice marbles and a lot of rainbow trout. The biggest one was 70cm. The last day of fishing was on the Ahr river. No rainbow trout just marbles and brown trout. I have to say that I expected a lot from this river because of the previous days. In the end, I would rate it a 9 out of 10 not only because of the really nice brown trout population but also because you don’t see any trash on the banks. Let me conclude by saying that I definitely won’t wait long to return to this beautiful landscape.
